Nancy's Notes

In 2009 Nancy and Ken will have been married for 50 years.  Nancy has a heart to minister to women in need, and because of this has started her own column, Nancy's Notes,

We will post these here as well, as any other things she would like to share with you.  So please check back regularly to see if she's posted something new.

We wives can get so busy being our husbands' helpmeets, that we can forget about what it is that the Lord wants us to do.  Relying on our own understanding, and not on God's guidance, will always cause us to be ineffective helpmeets.

So if we determine to remember what God wants first, and to trust Him, we can receive His guidance on what He wants us to do, and how He wants us to be the most loving and effective helpmeets.

Your husband is on a long journey, and learning that he is not acting as a Christ-like spiritual leader is difficult for him.  To best help him...

1. Remember to pray daily for your husband.
2. Remember that it takes time for your husband to completely change his thinking to God's ways.
3. Remember that the truth will set your free and if you are hurting, you can relieve the hurting if you share the truth of your feelings.
4. Remember that it is up to your husband to determine whether he wants to be the Christ-like spiritual leader he is called by God to be.
5. Remember that you can learn every day how God wants you to help your husband if you are reading His Word.
6. Remember that God doesn't want wives to hurt.  He doesn't like it it either when your husband hurts you.
7. Remember that your example can help your children to be truthful at all times about their feelings, so they don't have to wait and learn how to be truthful after they are married.  Teach them how to appropriately share their hearts with you and dad.
8. Remember that even though you are being truthful, your husband may not respond in a wonderful way.  He may never respond as God wants him to when you share the truth of your feelings.  But you must share the truth, anyway!  Keep letting him know how he makes you feel, especially when he makes you feel encouraged.
9. Remember to be still and let God work.
10. Remember that the goal is Christ-likeness for you, too.
